He was born in Urnieta, in the Oria neighborhood (since 1986 this has been known as the Lasarte-Oria neighborhood) on 16 April 1906. A tireless worker who never gave up, his best-known works include the production of dictionaries.

His final years were spent in the Sanctuary of Loiola, where he died on 27 August 1982.
